What technical innovations have the ski manufacturers come up with for the winter of 2022/2023? We have examined the ski innovations for 2023 and compiled the test winners for you.
The following trends can be identified in the new models for this winter. On the one hand, high-performance ski models with the technology of racing pros for the average consumer. On the other hand, all-mountain skis that forgive a mistake or two, but perform perfectly and make high speeds possible.
One thing is for sure, you can look forward to fun and versatile models this winter. The 2023 ski innovations contain the latest materials and innovative constructions.
Salomon S/Max N°8
The Salomon S/Max N°8 is characterized by optimal running smoothness and easy handling thanks to the ABS sidewall construction and its wood core. The ski impresses with perfect edge grip and little effort thanks to the improved Edge Amplifier. This makes the Salomon S/Max N°8 the perfect companion for women who want to make the most of their day on the slopes. The ski is available in lengths of 145cm – 165cm and at EUR 550 is in the average range for women’s ski models. The test winner in the women’s all-round category in winter 2022/2023.
Rossignol React 8 CAM
As in the previous season, the winner in the men’s all-round category in winter 2022/2023 is Rossignol React 8 CAM. The ski is available in lengths from 156cm – 177cm and is in the upper mid-price range at EUR 620. Find your flow – the Rossignol React 8 CAM is the perfect piste ski for occasional skiers. It is very good-natured and easy to ski. At higher speeds, however, the Rossignol React 8 CAM is particularly smooth and stable. The HP edition with a basalt and carbon core provides the upgrade for advanced skiers. The Flex Tip technology enables very easy acceleration into and out of the turn and offers torsion control on tip and tail for perfect carving fun. The oversize sidecuts also allow for very great manoeuvrability with simultaneous power and control.
Völkl Deacon 84
The Völkl Deacon 84 is the leader in the all-mountain category for 2022/2023. The all-mountain ski impresses with a multitude of advantages: excellent smoothness, energy-saving and yet incredibly stable thanks to 3D.Glass technology and Titanal frame. The ski is easy to handle and also readily forgives a mistake. At home on the groomed slopes, it is also suitable for a short excursion into deep snow. The Völkl Deacon 84 always puts a satisfied smile on the face of even very good skiers. It is a true all-rounder, whether on freshly snow-covered or icy slopes. A real recommendation for 2022/2023! Fischer RC4 The Curv DTX WS
The Fischer RC4 The Curv DTX WS is an excellent, high-quality piste ski with proven racing genes. The ski is one of our favourites in the category for women’s high-performance skis. At EUR 999, it belongs to the upper price range, but is definitely worth its price. The Fischer RC4 The Curv DTX WS is available in lengths from 150cm – 178cm. It impresses with sensational curve dynamics thanks to Radical Triple Radius, smooth running and stability at high speeds and is therefore very easy on the skier. A true pleasure on the slopes for ambitious female skiers. Available in the designs blue/red or in the Women Selection in purple.
Stöckli Laser MX
This excellent women’s ski from the high-performance range is a true lightweight and therefore saves a lot of energy. The Stöckli Laser MX shows its advantages especially in long turns with perfect edge grip and optimal smoothness thanks to Turtle Shell technology. The Stöckli Laser MX, designed for women, also impresses with its unique manoeuvrability and agility. Ladies who want the ski to be a little sportier can tune it up with the SRT Speed Plate and SRT-12 binding. The ski is available in 6cm steps in lengths from 146cm – 164cm. The recommended retail price is EUR 1,219.
Atomic Cloud C12 Revoshock C
Our 3rd recommendation in the High Performance category for 2022/2023 comes from Atomic with the Cloud C12 Revoshock C. A very high-quality piste ski for women, available in lengths from 147cm – 168cm for EUR 749.99. An extremely elegant and simple beauty in design. Also very convincing in terms of technology and skiing comfort. The Revoshock C system absorbs vibrations, thus providing more stability and at the same time enabling fast edge changes. The high performer and most popular ski in the Cloud line owes its liveliness to the light and supple Flite Woodcore. All in all, a superior overall package for sporty fun on the slopes.
Atomic Redster X9 S Revoshock
The Atomic Redster X9 S Revoshock is in a class of its own in the men’s high-performance segment in winter 2022/2023. At EUR 1,199.99 it belongs to the luxury class, but its speed, versatility and performance are outstanding. This absolute piste ski is available in the lengths 169cm / 175cm / 181cm. The Atomic Redster X9 S Revoshock conjures up maximum fun on the slopes with World Cup technology. Revoshock S, Ultra Power Woodcore and Ultra TI Powered Titanal inserts guarantee optimum smoothness. Multi Radius Sidecut ensures unique agility in short and long turns with a single ski. The optimised mix of slalom and giant slalom. The Atomic Redster X9 S Revoshock guarantees fun on the slopes from the first to the last run.
Rossignol Hero Master LT
Our second recommendation in the men’s high performance models for 2022/2023 is the Rossignol Hero Master LT (Long Turn). A race carver without weaknesses that also stands out with its stylish design. The LCT construction from Rossignol is an innovation from the Ski World Cup. It ensures pure power transmission with simultaneous stability in all situations. Thanks to the integrated power rail, vibrations are eliminated. This constant stability thus offers unique control even at high G-forces. Prop Tech at the front of the ski ensures balance and precision. It optimises power transmission and thus grip and stability. Salomon S/Race GS 12
With the innovative S/Race GS 12, Salomon has created a top model with an attractive price/performance ratio. The race carver is available for EUR 950 including binding and in the lengths 170cm / 175cm / 180cm. Salomon’s innovative Blade technology enables super-fast turns and edge changes. At the same time, the Salomon S/Race GS 12 provides an incredibly stable glide and impresses with its energy-saving skiing characteristics and edge grip. This means that even sportier speeds can be maintained effortlessly from the first to the last turn. A core made of ash wood, the racing base, 2 titanal layers and continuous sandwich sidewalls enable true racing power on the piste.
Völkl Blaze 106
The recommendation for freeride over 100mm for 2022/2023 is the Völkl Blaze 106. A genuine powder ski and a real lightweight (1828 grams at 186cm length) that loses absolutely nothing in performance despite the weight reduction. The Blaze 106 therefore also invites you to screw on a touring binding. For this purpose, Völkl offers Smart Glue skins cut to size for all Blaze models. The new suspension tip is also remarkable. At the tip and tail of the ski, this elastic, almost rubber-like material acts like a bumper. An incredibly balanced performance in all areas, whether off piste or on piste, make the Nordica Unleashed 98 a favourite in the freeride category up to 100mm. Available in 4 lengths from 168cm to 186cm, the Nordica also scores with its fair price of EUR 549.95. The Unleashed 98 is sensationally versatile.
