The region of Abruzzo is a world of mountains. Wherever one looks, the mountain ranges like the Majella, the Laga, the Gran Sasso and the Sirente Velino Group reach to heaven. Due to the altitude of the region, the ski areas in Abruzzo have been blessed with long and intense snowfall. This way snow can be guaranteed till late spring. With an offer of 340 km of slopes and 112 lifts at an altitude of 1,105 m – 2,360 m the ski areas are excellent for the main winter sports activities such as skiing, snowboarding, freeriding and cross-country skiing. The ski areas are adjacent to four nature reserves: Sirente-Velino, Majella, Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo-Latium-Molise, Gran Sasso-Monti della Laga. The ski resort Alto-Angro has the most winter sports facilities in central and southern Italy. Alto-Angro includes the resorts Roccaraso, Rivisondoli and Pescocostanzo. Here you will find large winter sports facilities, elegant shops and hotels and culture from the Baroque period as well as from the Renaissance period.
