The holiday region of Hohe Tauern National Park is connected directly to eight individual ski areas. The ski areas Gasteinertal - Bad Hofgastein, Wildkogel Arena Neukirchen/Bramberg, Mittersill – Stuhlfelden, Wald-Königsleiten-Krimml-Hochkrimml, Weißsee Gletscherwelt Uttendorf/Weißsee, Skiverbund Großarltal and Rauris - Taxenbach – Embach offer an incredible diversity of runs on 870 km of slopes. Freeriders, snowboarders, skiers and winter romantics will find the ultimate pleasure on the challenging as well as the easier descents. Surrounded by a spectacular natural setting, shaped by the numerous 3,000 m high mountains, the holiday region in the National Park Hohe Tauern is a dream for freeriders and ski tourers. With heights of the ski areas up to 3,000 m snow is guaranteed. Even on horseback, with the toboggan, skates or climbing rope you can explore the fantastic landscape. A somewhat different way to experience nature intensively is by ice climbing. The physical high performance can be admired when the climbers climb the frozen ice falls with their crampons and ice picks. The ice climbing beginners can practice first in the special ice climbing areas.
