The town of Encamp houses about 12,000 inhabitants and is located at an altitude of almost 1,300 m and is connected to the Engolasters lake (Lac d'Englolasters) by a 6,200 m long cable car. As part of the largest ski area in the Pyrenees, one has access in Encamp to 210 kilometers of slopes spread over 118 runs. This ski area is part of the Grandvalira, together with the ski resorts Soldeu, El Tarter, Pas de la Casa and Grau Roig. With 21 green, 42 blue, 30 red and 25 black runs there is plenty of variety and you can ski or snowboard on your own level. Worth seeing in Encamp is definitely the Romanesque church of Santa Eulàlia d’Encamp or the automobile museum. Also the old 125 m high radio antenna of Radio Andorra which has been shut down in 1981 is worth a visit. After an eventful day the sports centre with indoor swimming pools, saunas, Turkish bath, gym, indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis and squash court, offers everything to relax.
