The Olomouc (Olomoucký kraj) region is situated directly on the Polish border for 104 kilometers. Along the border, the Jeseníky mountain range (Nízký Jeseník) rises with the highest mountain Praděd (Altvater) with an altitude of 1,492 m above sea level. In the Olomouc region the town of the same name (Olomouc) is situated which is famous for its history, folk traditions and attractions. The region offers a total of 131 kilometers of slopes in 59 ski areas, which you can reach via 164 comfortable lifts. Among the most important ski resorts in the region are Dolní Morava-Snezník, Kouty nad Desnou, Pod Snezníkem-Kunčice, Hyncice pod Susinou-Kraličák, Petříkov-Kaste, Praděd (Ski Karlov), Praděd-Figura and Ramzová-Šerák (Bonera). In addition to the winter sports, the region is also worth visiting because of the sites in the Olomouc region (Olomoucky kraj). The numerous castles like those of Bouzov, Šternberk and Helfštýn and the castles in Úsov, Tovačov and Šternberk and many others, lure many tourists to the region each year. Particularly worth seeing is the Holy Trinity Column from the baroque period, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2000.
