Lienz is the seventh largest city in Tyrol. From Lienz, there are two ski areas which can be reached within less than 15 minutes. We speak about Hochstein and Zettersfeld. Together, they offer skiers and snowboarders 37 km of slopes and 12 modern lifts and cable cars. On the Hochstein the famous black World Cup run is located, which is the absolute highlight of this area. In addition, there are also red runs, but for beginners there are only 2 slopes available at the Schlossbergbahn, where the exercise terrain Tuxermoos is located. For returners, beginners and families with children it is recommended to ski on the Zettersfeld near Lienz. The slopes are much easier to deal with there. One can improve one’s technique without any stress and if one should feel like taking on the black run, because one has practised a lot, there is the possibility to do so at the Osthangabfahrt. Directly at the chairlift Steinermandl is a funpark, which makes snowboarders and freestylers happy. In Zettersfeld ski tours are very popular, because the area is nearly perfect for this. On all levels of difficulty something is on offer. For those who want to satisfy their growling stomach, many ski huts in both ski areas are available. Fine Tyrolean specialities are offered, which delight the hungry customers. Afterwards one can return on the ski slope well saturated and happy. Lienz is worth a visit, see for yourself!
