Axams & Axamer Lizum: Tyrol's winter wonderland for active connoisseurs: Just a few kilometres west of Innsbruck lies Axams, an idyllic village that transforms into a vibrant centre for snow sports in winter. The nearby Axamer Lizum ski area delights visitors with its combination of alpine flair, sporting diversity and impressive altitude between 1,560 and 2,340 metres. With over 40 kilometres of slopes, spread across wide carving runs, challenging descents and gentle slopes, there is something for every level of skier. The modern 10-seater Hoadlbahn gondola lift takes winter sports enthusiasts directly to the summit, where the Hoadl-Haus panorama restaurant entices visitors with Tyrolean specialities and magnificent views. Snowboarders and freestylers will find creative obstacles in the Golden Roofpark, while freeriders can carve their lines around the Kalkkögel mountains on 300 hectares of untouched terrain. There are two marked routes for ski tourers, complemented by special evening offers. But Axams offers more than just fun on the slopes: winter hiking trails, toboggan runs, cross-country ski trails and rustic huts provide variety and relaxation. The high altitude guarantees snow from November to April, ideal for long days of skiing and sunny descents.
