The volcanic landscape Puy de Dôme is located in the Massif Central and has more than 80 volcanic craters. The region has been named after the volcanic cone. The capital of the Puy de Dôme region, Clemont-Ferrand, is located about 50 km from the mountain range. The ski areas of the region are Le Mont Dore, Murat-le-Quaire, Super Besse, Chambon des Neiges, Saint-Antheme-Praboure, Chastreix-Sancy and Chambourguet-Le Tour. Alone in the ski resorts Le Mont Dore and Super Besse you will find up to 87 kilometers of slopes with 26 km of off-piste slopes for freeriders. Freestylers will find their adrenaline rush in the Le Mont Dore Funpark and on 8 illuminated slopes you can even ski at night. In Chastreix at an altitude of 1,350 m you will find 87 kilometers of slopes and in Chambon de Neiges you will mainly find green and blue slopes, but for the experienced skiers there is also a black slope. For non-skiers, the Puy de Dôme region has a wide range of activities, such as snowkiting, paragliding, snowshoeing, ice skating, toboganning, horse trekking, bowling, wellness treatments or simply going to the movies.
