The Jura Mountains with a length of 300 km, is located partly in Switzerland and partly in France and has some mountains with an altitude of more than 1,500 meters above sea level. The Crêt de la Neige even reaches up to 1,720 meters. The mountain range turns out to be a perfect cross-country region. With more than 100 km of groomed trails, the offer is almost limitless. For professionals, the Transjurassienne cross-country marathon with a length of 76 kilometers could be an interesting challenge. Famous ski areas like Les Rousses, Métabief and Monts Jura offer an attractive alternative to the Alps for skiers and snowboarders. The four villages Lamoura, Bois d’Amont, Premanon and Les Rousses, of the ski resort with the same name, are located in the middle of the National Park of Haut-Jura and thus in the heart of the mountain range. Other winter sports activities in the region are, for example, snow tubing, ice skating, snow kiting, ski touring, snowshoeing, winter hiking and tobogganing.
