Between France and Italy, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, the Hautes Pyrénées region is located. Here you will find the ski areas Gavarnie-Gèdre, Piau Engaly, Cauterets, Luz Ardiden, Hautacam, Saint-Lary, Val Louron and Grand Tourmalet, which together offer 469 km of perfectly groomed slopes, which can be accessed via 142 ski lifts. The largest ski resort in the Pyrenees offers, besides its extensive offer of slopes, many opportunities for off-piste skiers, such as the descent from the summit of the Pic du Midi. The Hautes Pyrénées region places particular emphasis on its family-friendliness. Special areas, which have been reserved only for the little ones or the taller beginners, are ideally suited for an organized and therefore relaxed family holiday. However, the families can also look forward to snowparks, black runs and many snow making machines. Points of interest which largely determine the character of the region are Barèges, the famous pass Tourmalet of the Tour de France, the nature reserve of Néouvielle or the Pyrenees National Park, but also Lourdes, Bagnères-de-Bigorre and Saint-Lary-Soulan are certainly worth a visit.
